About the Artists
Omenås/Skarbø Improvisors Øyvind Skarbø and Stian Omenås both come from the same part of Western Norway, where they played many years together in the big band Big Odd Band. Today, as a duo, they do not play standards, but they improvise freely. This is two musicians with a good focus on the music of the moment. They are both very active in the Norwegian music scene playing a varied mixture of improvisational music from rock to jazz in various projects.
Øystein Skar He is an active composer both for own bands and for others. From being a classical pianist his main focus has now moved to modern jazz, experimental music, rock, avant-garde and electronic music. Born (1985) and grew up in Vinstra (Oppland).Started at the local culture-school at the age of 12 years. Studying jazz-piano under Misha Alperin at the Norwegian Academy of Music the autumn 2004. Øystein has in addition to numerous tours in Iceland, Russia, France, Poland, Netherlands, Sweden and Czech Republic played at renowned festivals such as Molde Jazzfestival, Murmansk jazzfestival, Oslo Jazzfestival, Lillehammer Jazzfestival, Ungjazz, Sounds of the Nordic countries festival.
